Message from Marianne Prout, chair, BUSPH Faculty Senate -- The Faculty Senate is very pleased to offer the opportunity for SPH faculty to meet with two University officials who have been working with the Senate on issues that concern us all.  The meeting will be held November 10 from noon to 2 p.m. in rooms 107-108 at 670 Albany Street. Bring your own brown-bag lunch and we will provide cookies and drinks.

Schedule

Noon to 1 p.m.

Ara Tahmassian, vice president for research compliance for Boston University, will present changes planned for the BU Office of Sponsored Programs. He will also discuss the course of action that will be taken to improve the preparation and submission of grant applications as well as the management of research budgets. Jennifer Schlezinger, vice chair of the BUSPH Faculty Senate, will moderate a question and answer session for faculty.

1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Janice Weinberg, associate professor of biostatistics and chair of the Faculty Senate Task Force on Faculty Assessment, will discuss the development and review process of the Faculty Performance Assessment System, which took place over the course of the last academic year. Deborah Fournier, PhD, assistant provost for institutional research and evaluation on the BU Medical Campus, will discuss plans for evaluation and revision of this process.  Janice will then moderate a Q&A session for faculty.

The Faculty Senate wishes to apologize for scheduling this meeting in conflict with the APHA conference.  We hope that those of you who are available will join us to hear about some very positive plans for improvements that will affect all faculty members.  Your input is greatly appreciated.

The meeting will be held in 670 Albany St, rooms 107-108.
