It’s BUSPH Faculty Prospective Students Want to Meet

Message from Lisa Sullivan, Associate Dean for Education – I would like to make a personal appeal to BUSPH faculty members who are attending the APHA conference in Philadelphia Nov. 8 to 12 to volunteer an hour or two at the BUSPH admissions booth to greet and speak with prospective students.

This is a fun and easy-lifting volunteer gig that can pay big dividends in helping us recruit excellent prospective students. Prospective students who visit the BUSPH admission booth at APHA are among the most likely to apply to the School. Faculty are effective recruiters because they can talk about public health research and practice from personal experience.  Students are eager to seek out faculty members who have expertise in their fields of interest and with whom they would like to study.

I know you are all busy, but if you have an hour or two between APHA commitments, the admission office staff, Jeff Dubinski and Judith Hull, would be thrilled to have you join them in meeting students and answering questions about public health, the research you are doing and about the academic program.

We will post a schedule at the booth so prospective students who want to meet faculty in specific concentrations will know when you will be available.

The exhibition hall is open from Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. and will wrap up on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 12:30pm.

Please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it before Nov. 5 about your availability and include the name and time of any presentations you are giving at APHA so that we may make them known to students.

Thank you for your participation.

Lisa Sullivan
Associate Dean for Education
