298The International Health Department at BU School of Public Health invites the BUSPH community to a special screening of the short documentary film "Not Yet Rain" by BUSPH alumna Lisa Russell. Through the voices of Ethiopian women, the film looks at abortion in Ethiopia and the barriers women face for safe reproductive care. A question and answer session will take place after the screening with Russell and a colleague from Ipas,  the non-profit organization that commissioned the film.

Russell is an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker whose background in humanitarian relief and development work inspires her films. She has traveled extensively, shooting films for the United Nations and international agencies in Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Malawi, Niger, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, and is a teaching artist with Urban Word NYC, where she leads a workshop for young spoken word artists to initiate awareness and dialogue about social issues through film screenings and open mic performances.
