They will be called many things as they head out into the world with their public health degrees -- dreamers, do-gooders, idealists. But as they received their diplomas Saturday night, the BU School of Public Health Class of 2012 was called upon to show some muscle.

A new study of genetic variants that used a statistical method developed by a BUSPH graduate has found six novel genetic loci involved in insulin resistance.

BUSPH Researchers Awarded $1.7M Grant to Test Treatment for Gulf War Veterans' Illnesses

 

BUSPH will work with VA researchers in Boston and the Bronx to test whether intranasal insulin helps to alleviate Gulf War illness, a multi-symptom condition marked by fatigue, headaches, joint pain, memory and other cognitive problems.

Mobile Phone Texts Reduce HIV Diagnosis Times

 

The time it takes for a child to be diagnosed with HIV can be dramatically reduced by using a mobile phone text message, according to a study led by BUSPH researchers and published in a special e-health issue of the Bulletin of the World Health Organization.
