Dr. Prout has 30 years experience in public health and medicine with Boston University. She teaches public health courses about cancer epidemiology and cancer prevention as a public health problem and is the practicum liaiason for Epidemiology. Dr. Prout's research interests focus on cancer, in particular designing cancer education course materials using new technologies, breast cancer risk and risk reduction outreach and education to minority and underserved communities, cancer screening and smoking cessation programs. She has been the site Principal Investigator at Boston Medical Center for cooperative breast cancer chemoprevention trials for 15 years. In addition to her work with BUSPH, Dr. Prout holds faculty appointments with the BU School of Medicine (BUSM) in the Sociomedical Sciences and Community Medicine and Surgery departments. She is an Associate Director for Cancer Prevention and Control at the BUSM Cancer Center, and is a founder and Associate Director of WHIRC (Women's Health Interdisciplinary Research Center).
