C. Weller, a professor of sociomedical sciences and the director of
research in the department of family medicine at the University of
Texas, begins the 2007 William J. Bicknell Lectureship in Public Health
with a talk titled “What Do We Know About the Distribution of HPV in
the United States?” Weller, an epidemiologist who specializes in
statistical methods, provides a scientific overview of the history and
prevalence of HPV infection in the United States.

two of the 2007 William J. Bicknell Lectureship presents a panel
discussion with four experts in the public health and policy on
arguments for and against the widespread use of the newly developed HPV
vaccine. The HPV Vaccine: Is It Really a Public Health No-Brainer?
features former president of Merck Vaccines Adel Mahmoud, the United
Nation Population Fund’s Yves Bergevin, women’s health advocate Judy
Norsigian, and Massachusetts Representative Peter Koutoujian.
