With its large network of hospitals, community health agencies, and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, Boston has been long recognized as one of the leading health care centers in the world. BUSPH is located in Boston's South End, the largest preserved Victorian neighborhood in the country, on the Boston University Medical Campus (BUMC). The School therefore is in the heart of the community that BUMC and Boston Medical Center serve. Other nearby teaching institutions offer a vast array of educational, cultural, and social opportunities.
Boston University Medical Campus is located a few short blocks from Boston's cultural center. Symphony Hall, the Boston Center for the Arts, the Huntington Theatre Company, and the restaurants, art galleries, and jazz clubs of Tremont Street are all in close proximity to the School. The Museum of Fine Arts, the Theater District, and the famous shops of Newbury Street are only a short distance away, within walking distance or easily accessible by public transportation.
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the many outdoor activities available here, such as sculling or sailing on the Charles River, or jogging, bicycling, or rollerblading along its banks. The mountains and ski resorts of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine and the beaches of Cape Cod and the Islands are within easy reach as well. For those who prefer to enjoy their sports from a spectator's perspective, Fenway Park, TD Banknorth Garden, and Gillette Stadium provide ample opportunity to root for the home teams from the sidelines.
One of the country's most vibrant, culturally rich, and desirable places to live and learn, Boston is a fun and exciting place to call home.
