MPH candidates are encouraged to complete their core course requirements, particularly the core course(s) in their concentration, as early as possible in their academic program. MPH candidates must successfully complete at least one of the core course requirements in epidemiology, biostatistics or health law within their first 12 credits of course work, a second course by 24 credits, and all three by the time they complete 32 credits. The SPH Registrar’s Office regularly reviews student records and monitors compliance with this policy; it is the student's responsibility, however, to work with his or her academic advisor and plan a schedule that meets the requirements of this policy. Students who are not in compliance will be contacted by the SPH Registrar and may not be permitted to register in the subsequent semester unless the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs approves a waiver or the appropriate course selections are made.
International Health concentrators who begin their MPH program with a certificate program or two certificate programs must fulfill the epidemiology, biostatistics and health law (if applicable) core requirements by the end of their second semester of study following completion of the certificate program.
