History
Boston University School of Public Health was founded
in 1976 as a program of the BU School
of Medicine and offered classes
leading to a master's degree in public health (MPH). In 1979, Boston University Trustees approved the
establishment of the School of Public
Health with five academic departments.
Today the School offers a total of eight academic concentrations and offers master's and doctoral degrees as well as eight dual degrees with other Boston University schools and colleges. BUSPH Faculty maintain a robust research program with a $30 million annual budget, the third-largest research program at the University, after the College of Arts and
Sciences and the School of Medicine.

international populations, particularly the disadvantaged, underserved and
vulnerable, through excellence and innovation in education, research and
service.
