Board Member Application
Boston University School of Public Health Alumni Association Board Member Expectations

Any alumni of the Boston University School of Public Health may apply for membership on the Alumni Board. Alumni who are interested in becoming members of the Board may contact the Membership Committee, Board member (s), or Harriet Brand, Director of Alumni Relations, at any time for information or to obtain an application.  Applications for Board membership will be accepted between June 1 and July 30 of each year, and should be submitted (or forwarded) electronically to the Membership Committee. 

Applicants must be approved by a majority of the current Alumni Board Members during a democratic voting process. Once elected, Board members are expected to:

  • Attend a majority of regular Board meetings annually
  • Participate in the voting process for electing new Board members
  • Attend and participate in Board events, including, but not limited to: special cultural and networking events and the Annual Alumni Board Symposium
  • Participate in subcommittees of the Board, including, but not limited to: the Membership/Nomination Committee, Events Committee, and Communications Committee
  • Attend special and ad hoc planning and committee meetings
  • Make a financial contribution to BUSPH during each year serving on the Board. The level at which Board Members contribute is up to the individual Member; however 100% participation of the Board is the goal
  • Adhere to the BUSPH Alumni Board By-Laws
