Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biostatistics Boston University School of Public Health
The Biostatistics Department at the Boston University School of Public Health is currently seeking postdoctoral fellows to work with Biostatistics faculty and clinicians from various disciplines, including investigators on the Framingham Heart Study. Fellows will work for a period of 2 years and receive training and mentoring to become investigators who can conduct cutting edge methodological and collaborative research. The Department of Biostatistics has over 20 full-time faculty who are working on methods and applications in epidemiological studies, statistical genetics and clinical trials. Fellows will participate in regular seminars and meetings and will work with faculty on existing or newly developed research projects.
Postdoctoral fellows will be primarily funded (approximately 75% effort) from NIH sponsored grants such as the Framingham Heart Study and their activities will be determined largely by the funding source, leaving time to work on original research and to participate in other activities of the Department, the School and the University. Fellows will have approximately 25% of their effort dedicated to original methodological or collaborative research. Fellows will be encouraged and supported in the submission of manuscripts.
To be eligible, applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics or other quantitatively oriented field and have an interest in the development of methodological and research skills. Minority and women applicants are encouraged to apply.
Eligible candidates should send a letter of intent including career objectives and research goals, a current curriculum vitae, transcripts and three letters of recommendation, by mail or email to:

Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship, Genetic Epidemiology Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School
This is a post-doctoral research fellowship opportunity funded by an American Diabetes Association Mentored Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship grant with salary support for 1 to 4 years.
The research aims to assess the role of genetics in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes with tests of hypotheses that common variation identified in candidate genes or by genome-wide wide association discovery are associated with a) variation in diabetes-related quantitative trait levels, b) specific measures of diabetes physiology, and c) risk of clinical type 2 diabetes. Data resources include the Framingham Heart Study SNP Health Association Resource (SHARe) Study and the Meta-Analyses of Glucose and Insulin-related traits Consortium (MAGIC). Approaches include genetic association studies, statistical and population genetics, linkage-disequilibrium mapping and resequencing experiments to identify and characterize causal variants. This award seeks to support a Fellow to train in the unparalleled scientific environment of the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, the Framingham Heart Study and collaboration with the Broad Institute.
The position is available for post-doctoral fellows at any stage of training. Basic qualifications include a prior doctoral degree (MD and or PhD) in Epidemiology, Genetics, Medicine, or a relevant discipline. Excellent written English skills and ability to work in a team environment are also required.
Please send a Curriculum Vitae and a Statement of Research Interest to James B. Meigs MD MPH at
