Transcript Information


Grading System

To be eligible to graduate from BUSPH, all degree candidates must have a 3.0 grade point average. A degree candidate whose grade point averages is less than 3.0 at any time after they have completed eight (8) credits is automatically placed on Academic Probation and remain on probation until his or her grade point average is 3.0 or above.

A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7
C = 2.0
C- = 1.7
D = 1.0
F = 0.0
W = Withdrew after fifth week of semester
I = Incomplete

Grade Reports

The Office of the University Registrar does not mail grade reports to students at the end of each academic semester. Students access their grades via the Web at the Student Link using their BU e-mail login name and secure password.

Official Transcripts

The Office of University Registrar at Boston University (881 Commonwealth Avenue, Charles River Campus) issues official transcripts for BUSPH students or graduates. The request form and procedures are detailed on their Web pages. Charges are assessed by the University Registrar's Office. Students may view a "transcript preview" online at the Boston University Student Link.

Unofficial Transcripts

The Boston University School of Public Health Registrar's Office may print unofficial transcripts for current or former School of Public Health students. To request an unofficial transcript, please visit us in person, or fax a signed request to the BUSPH Registrar's Office at 617-638-5060. The request must include:

  • Your full name (name when you attended)
  • Email address (an address that you check regularly)
  • BU ID number or the last four digits of your social security number
  • Date of birth
  • Dates of attendance at BU School of Public Health
  • A fax number or mailing address to send the unofficial copy to you
  • Your signature
Be aware that unofficial transcripts will be stamped "STUDENT COPY." Unofficial transcripts cannot be sent electronically. Current students may print an unofficial transcript at any time from the "Transcript Preview" function on the Student Link (see above). Depending on your needs, this option may fulfill your needs.

Degree Audits

The BUSPH Registrar's Office staff will review students' transcripts and give an assessment of outstanding requirements for completing the degree. Though walk-ins are fine, it is recommended that students make an appointment to review their transcript with a member of the Registrar's Office staff.
