Important Registration Information

Five Key Things About Registration:
    • Use the “PLANNER” function on the Student Link to prepare for registration.
    • Don’t take the registration date and time lightly. Register for your classes at 7am on the first day of registration.
    • Make any changes to your concentration ahead of the registration date.
    • If a class you want closes, fill out the web wait list form immediately to be added to the waitlist. The form is available at http://sph.bu.edu/waitlistform.
    • If you have any issues with registration, ask the Registrar’s Office right away. Do not wait!
Go HERE for a complete guide to registration.

      Before Registration:

      • Use the planner function on the Student Link to construct your Spring schedule. If you cannot access the Planner, check your compliance holds. Inability to access the planner usually means that you have a hold on your account.
      • Meet with your academic advisor for approval of your planned schedule, prior to registration. This is not required, although it is recommended. If you cannot meet with your advisor prior to registration, register and make adjustments as necessary after you meet.
      • Your goal is to make progress with concentration, core, and degree requirements each semester insofar as possible.  Be sure you follow the MPH core course scheduling policy:  MPH candidates must successfully complete at least one of the core course requirements in epidemiology, biostatistics or health law, bioethics & human rights within their first 12 credits of course work, a second course by 24 credits, and all three of the aforementioned cores by 32 credits.
      • Not all courses are open to web registration. Directed study, directed research, and all practicum courses must be registered on a paper add/drop form
      • Some classes have the majority or all of their seats reserved for concentrators. If you are closed out of a class and there are seats available, check to see if the class you want has seat reservations.
      Registration Day:
      • Go HERE for a complete guide to registration.
      • Students who cannot register online for a class that is flagged or closed must complete a web wait list form to be added to the wait list.  The online Waitlist Form is on the Registrar Office webpage: http://sph.bu.edu/waitlistform. Please do not call and ask us to put you on a wait list - you must fill out the web form. Forms time stamped before 7:00 AM on the morning of registration will not be accepted.
      • Please check your e-mail frequently if you are on a class wait list, and do not e-mail the instructor if you are closed out of a class.  The SPH Registrar’s Office works with instructors and manages all wait lists.
