International Student Funding Opportunities
In addition to merit based awards and fellowship opportunities listed under Funding Opportunities within Boston University and Outside Scholarship and Fellowship Opportunities, the majority of our international students have identified additional opportunities for funding their education while attending BUSPH. We strongly encourage international students to seek additional funding opportunities.

Some international students opt to take out a private loan to finance their education. The Office of Student Financial Services has information about lenders and private loan opportunities for international students on their department website.

Several private and government agencies have been known to provide funding for international students to study in the United States. Below is a list of organizations which have provided funding to BUSPH international students in the past. Please be advised that some of the agencies have specific application procedures. It is best to contact the organization directly to determine the protocol.

All accepted international applicants will be required to submit to the admissions office a completed International Student Data Form (ISDF) along with supporting financial documents that demonstrate your ability to pay for your expenses while studying at Boston University in order to be processed for appropriate immigration documents (I-20 or DS-2019).

The financial documents must either show funds in a bank account in your name, or a letter of sponsorship which indicates that your sponsor is willing and able to support you financially for your academic fees and living expenses throughout the duration of your studies at Boston University and the relationship of the sponsor to the applicant. All financial documents must be written in English and show the amounts converted into U.S. dollars.

For your convenience, Boston University has prepared a Sponsorship Certification Form for this purpose.  Click here to review the Estimate of Expenses to determine the amount of funds you must have available.

Detailed information on funding requirements and immigration documentation can be found on the International Students and Scholars Office website
