The Department of Biostatistics consists of 25 faculty who are experts in the areas of statistical genetics, clinical trials, and observational studies. Embracing the multidisciplinary nature of biostatistics, Department faculty design and conduct important studies that span the continuum of public health. Biostatistics faculty members are also dedicated to excellent teaching and student advising; seven members of the faculty were awarded Excellence in Teaching awards in the2011-2012 academic year. In 2012, the Department of Biostatistics established the L. Adrienne Cupples Award for Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service in Biostatistics. The Department recognized Dr. Cupples for her contributions in biostatistics. Additionally, Department faculty regularly secure new grant awards and publish papers in prominent peer-reviewed journals each year. There are numerous opportunities for Biostatistics students to collaborate on these projects in our Working Groups.
